NLP Group Jobs

Meetings Organizer: Dan Ramage
Responsible for booking and scheduling NLP Lunch and the NLaSP Colloquium, and miscellaneous other group meetings and events. Tasks include reserving rooms months in advance, maintaining meeting schedules on the web, coordinating scheduling and requirements with NLaSP speakers, and sending out weekly reminders of meetings.
Publications Officer: Yun-Hsuan Sung
Responsible for collecting, advertising, and distributing NLP Group publications. The main task is to ensure that (final versions of) all group publications appear on the NLP Group publications page.
Director of Educational Affairs: Jenny Finkel
Responsible for enhancing learning related outcomes in the NLP Group. The two known tasks are to organize a weekly reading group, and to participate in discussion of the NLP and Speech curriculum at Stanford.
Catering Manager: Rob Munro
Responsible for the provision of tasty meaty, vegetarian, and vegan food at NLP Group activities, particularly NLP Lunch.
Catering Manager (JavaNLP): Pi-Chuan Chang
Responsible for the provision of tasty meaty, vegetarian, and vegan food at JavaNLP meetings.
Social Director: Jenny Finkel
Responsible for making sure that people in the NLP Group have a life. Duties include party organization and provisioning.
Customer Support (Parser): Marie-Catherine de Marneffe
Responsible for making sure that support queries on software that we distribute get addressed. Current tasks are to either respond to or refer to others questions on the parser-support mailing list.
Customer Support (Other): Anna Rafferty
Responsible for making sure that support queries on software that we distribute get addressed. Current tasks are to either respond to or refer to others questions on the java-nlp-support mailing list.
JavaNLP Czar: Anna Rafferty
Responsible for architecting, lead developing, and quality assurance of the JavaNLP code and its documentation. Tasks include proselytizing, organizing JavaNLP meetings, maintaining the JavaNLP web pages, working out key tasks needed to improve JavaNLP and distributing them to others, getting bugs fixed and documentation written, advertising tools and ideas for improving code quality, etc. This is the biggest of these jobs.
Brand Manager: Nate Chambers
Responsible for developing, positioning, and promoting the Stanford NLP and JavaNLP brands. Tasks include design and production of logos and other artwork, PowerPoint templates, stationery, mugs, t-shirts, umbrellas, and action figures. Also handles product placement deals, media blitzes, and international promotional tours.
Webmaster: Alex Kleeman
Responsible for developing and maintaining the Stanford NLP website. Tasks include designing and maintaining the front pages, and hassling other people to produce and update project descriptions, home pages, etc., as needed.
Power Broker: Chris Manning
Responsible for withholding sustenance from people not cooperating with others to get jobs done.
